The Hudson Valley Animal Rescue Sanctuary (HVARS) is a 501(c)(3) charity organization, located in New York State. We rescue and rehabilitate domestic wildlife as well as farm animals, other domestics and we now run a spay and neuter program for cats.
All donations to HVARS are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
HVARS is proud to announce that we have purchased a 37 ft mobile veterinary unit that was custom-built to meet our needs. Our new spay/neuter truck has been delivered and we are now hosting low cost spay/neuter and low cost vaccine clinics throughout Dutchess County. Please see or “calendar tab” for information on registering for our low cost services.

Meet Celie
I’m a NY State licensed wildlife rehabilitator, have had a love for animals my whole life and have dedicated my life to helping animals in need. I live on a small farm in Poughkeepsie, NY with my husband and two of my four children (two of my daughters also possess NY Wildlife Rehabilitation licenses) and many animals. I’m a graduate of Ulster community college with a degree as a Veterinary technician. My hopes and dreams are to open a low cost clinic to provide health care along with low cost spays and neuters to families who can’t afford the high cost of necessary medical needs for their pets. My goal is to be an advocate for wildlife by teaching younger generations the importance of respecting every animal that shares our environment, as well as helping the animals who need help.
Meet Karen
I have been a lover of animals for as long as I can remember. As a child, I constantly brought home “pets” of every kind, including local strays. My love for animals has only grown over the years and I am now dedicated to our non-profit organization. I am a licensed NYS wildlife rehabber who has lived in Dutchess County for 15 years. I live on a small farm in Wappingers Falls with my boyfriend, nephew and brother. I couldn’t do what I do for the animals without their dedication and support. My HVARS partner Celie & I have literally raised and released hundreds of orphaned wildlife babies over the years. In addition, we have saved countless injured animals from certain death. We recently became partners with the Petco foundation and we have been running adoption events at the Poughkeepsie location on weekends. I hope to continue my mission for years to come through our newly formed organization.

As you know, one of HVARS goals is to provide high-quality, low-cost spaying and neutering services for the four-legged members of our community. And to encourage the humans who love and care for these pets, we are committed to keeping our spay/neuter clinics affordable, convenient and staffed by skilled and compassionate veterinary professionals.
The enthusiastic welcome we have received in just our first few months of service convinces us that you and your neighbors share HVARS dedication to loving responsibility for our pets. We have already spayed/neutered and rehomed hundreds of cats.
We are writing today with some exciting news: we heard about a mobile clinic that’s for sale and just went to see it on Sunday. It’s exactly what we need to give HVARS the capacity to meet the spay/neuter needs of our community. We estimate this mobile clinic would allow us to deliver spay/neuter care to at least 3,000 pets this year alone!
However, the only way we’ll be able purchase this vehicle is with your help.
In HVARS first few months of operation, so many friends have shared so generously with us. Will you help us make the purchase of this mobile clinic happen? If everyone who read this post made even a small gift, and then spread the message to a few friends, I know we could make this dream a reality!
