Members of Girl Scout Troop # 10227¬†volunteered at our adoption event.¬† I would like to say a special¬†“thank you” to Sarah, Julia, Samantha, Heidi, Madison, Morgan and Lauren.¬†I wouldn’t have been able to handle the event without you.¬† In addition to all the cats we normally have, we also had¬†4 puppies for adoption. In between walking the puppies, the members of the troop collected over $170 in donations for HVARS.¬† They also donated handmade cat toys called “happy socks” which were¬†filled with catnip.¬† Our cats loved them. Thank you for all of your help Troop 10227, you were amazing!

Our adoption event on Saturday, December 17th went so well that we returned on Sunday the 18th with more cats from our sanctuary.¬† We met so many wonderful people and we were able to find permananet homes for a record¬†number of cats.¬†¬†We want to say¬†“Thank You” to all who showed up to¬†adopt.¬† Thank you also for the warm show of¬†support for our rescue efforts.¬† For those of you that couldn’t adopt,¬† but¬†felt a need to¬†help in some way, thank you for dropping¬†your spare change¬†into our donation can.¬† Every penny helps us in our¬†goal to care for¬†and maintain our sanctuary.¬† All donations are¬†used to provide food and veterinary care for the animals that are waiting to be adopted.

My only regret is that I forgot my camera and couldn’t take pictures to post on this site.¬† I would appreciate it if our adopters would send us some pictures and updates.

Send to:

karen@hvars.org or celie@hvars.org

Thanks again!

We had an excellent turnout for our adoption event on Saturday, December 10th at the Petco¬†in Poughkeepsie.¬† We were able to find permanent, loving homes for 4 cats and a rabbit.¬† Thank you to everyone that stopped by to say “hello” and meet our cats.¬†¬† We also want to thank the generous people that found it in their hearts to drop a few coins or dollars into our donation can.¬† Donations of¬†any amount are deeply appreciated.¬† We want to assure you that every penny donated is used for feeding the animals that are waiting to be adopted.

We want to thank these¬†two¬†young girls and their parents for¬†making a donation for our kitties. ¬†I’m sorry I didn’t get your names but¬†your generosity is greatly appreciated!

Meet some of our adopters:

Chris & his mother Judy adopted two cats.  Here they are holding Tigger at Petco.

This is his new family filling out his adoption papers.

We had a potential adopter for our little tuxedo, but she decided she couldn’t have another cat.¬† Here she is with our lovable little boy.

We want to say a special “Thank You” to Courtney Elder of Petco.¬† She made an announcement over the store’s intercom each time we had a successful adoption.¬† “Thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to make our adopters feel so special.”¬†¬† We would also like to thank Frank Fontenot for giving us space in the front of the store for our adoption events.¬† We are proud to work with the people of Petco.¬† They are a company that really supports the efforts of small rescue organizations like ours.
